While I am encouraged by the changes in Washington, I am concerned that other jurisdictions continue to wreak havoc with worker rights. Some cities, states and courts are willing to allow the trampling of existing workers rights in the name of belt tightening and economic necessity. Let's hope the proposed laws get passed and that the existing laws as well as the new laws will be enforced as the public and the legislators intended. We must all continue to speak out if we want the "change" to filter into all jurisdictions of enforcement.

In Chicago there was a big fight trying to keep Wal-Mart from setting up shop because of their staunch anti-labor practices. But I'm sure they are not alone, as the axis has been tilted very heavily in favor of big business for the last three decades. Which is why I believe it is time to encourage all states to adopt META, which would expand the concept of wrongful termination and give those without union or other representation a better to chance to be able to air grievances.
