I work for a social service agency, have an new manager and a ruthless accountant. Ever since the previous manager was let go, we are getting more work dumped on us, have to deal with a hostile accountant whom has more power than he should. The secretary's hours were cut and a salaried coworker was reduced to hourly. My workplace is miserable. I desperately want to leave, but can't afford to. The job market is so tight. I heard there was a wage freeze, so we are doing more work, but no raises this year. My new supervisor's true colors are coming out. She said if we don't keep our files up to date, we would be written up. Had to sign a sheet stating we read the rules and understand if we fail to follow, could result in disciplinary action. To me, its a punitive approach. Definitely fear tactics.

my company seems to have forgotten us that have "weathered the storm". Not only have promotions and Performance reviews gone to the wayside "because of the economy", but workers coming back from lay-offs more than 90 days have lost benefits. Workers "weathering" are watching there jobs being minimized. Im talking about being promised $14/hr a year ago and being told that i could be replaced for $9. I think that many employers are using the economy to exploit their production employees, fatten their own wallets, and keep us in constant fear of not being able to even feed our families
